Trades Generalist

o Under the supervision of the Park Manager at the Fort Ontario State Historic Site, the candidate will perform journey level work in the primary trade of masonry and plastering on historic structures and performs skilled and semi-skilled levels of work in carpentry, electrical, painting, and plumbing. o Masonry duties include project planning, lay out procedures, blueprint reading, purchasing, and overall coordination of assigned projects. o Makes necessary masonry repairs, adjustments, and directs others in performing such activities. o Provides instructions and demonstrates proper masonry techniques and the use of masonry and plastering tools. o Operate a variety of equipment including pickup trucks, sedans, Bobcat Toolcat, skid steer, aerial lifts, and similar equipment. o Daily supervision of permanent and seasonal staff will be required along with evaluating individual work performance of subordinate staff. o Coordinate with and supervise outside contractors working at the historic site. o In the winter season, remove snow and ice which also includes plowing and snowblowing snow from roadways, parking lots, sidewalks, and entryways. o Incumbent may be in charge of facility in absence of the park manager, historic site manager, or historic site assistant.

Salary Range:
From $47530 to $58016 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
