Administrative Operations Assistant, GS-0303-06 (MP - EC)

As an Administrative Operations Assistant within the Great Lakes Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
Reviews vendor invoices and ensures compliance with regulations; assigns appropriate account; and enters payments into financial system. Assists employees in preparing purchase request requisitions; prepares, processes, and tracks request for office supplies, equipment, and services; and reviews and pays vendor invoices. Serves as a vehicle manager. Ensures preventative and corrective maintenance is performed and electronic records are kept up to date. Advices personnel on travel rules, regulations, and procedures; reviews all travel-related documents; and prepares travel reservations, authorizations, and vouchers using automated travel system. Provides advice and assistance regarding time and attendance procedures and regulations. Reviews employee time to ensure proper entry of account and codes. Operates a government motor vehicle as an incidental driver. One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Example of GS-5 level work:
Performs standard and nonstandard assignments involving different and unrelated processes or methods in varying sequence; work requires extensive knowledge of rules, operations, or business practices. Follows accepted practices in resolving nonrecurring problems and meeting deadlines; completed products are evaluated for effectiveness in meeting goals; extensive guidelines in the form of instructions, manuals, and regulations are applied. OR applicants may substitute successful completion of 1/2 year of appropriate graduate level education (9 semester hours, 13.5 quarter hours or the equivalent) in a field of study directly related to the work of this position for the required one year of specialized experience. Graduate education may be credited only when it is clearly directly related to the work of this position and equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. OR applicants may substitute a combination of appropriate specialized experience (as described above) and graduate education (as described above) to meet the qualification requirements. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
